Thinking right in a culture whose Mind’s Left

Copyright by James Bruce McNaughton

I have internet experience with “those whose Mind’s Left.”

Do some claim the protection of being a Platform but want to control content like Publishers?

“Platforms” are given legal protection from what is written in them. This is what some claim to be. In exchange for this protection they give up the right to censor what they don’t agree with. They become a public forum.

“Publishers” have control of what will be written in them. But they give up legal protection from damage for what they say.

Any thinking person can recognize that content (memes, podcasts, etc.) that fails “fact checking” or “community standards” can be statements that those who are afraid of the truth want to censor. The truth proves them wrong, they have no valid counter-arguments and they politically don’t want to admit that. So they exert their brief (that is, until a fair platform reaches enough people) power to censor, under the guise they are “protecting” us. (Oh yes, they may have made token attempts at fairness, I have seen one “fact-check” that was not against conservative thought. I haven’t seen more).

I have personal interaction with “those whose Mind’s Left.”

I’ve been accused of being a Conspiracy Theorist. I was talking about Revelation in the Bible and a Twenty-Something asked me if I believed this conspiracy theory. I felt I was instantly discredited and dismissed merely by their question and the way they said it. I was also shocked at the Bible being called a conspiracy theory.

I also asked this Twenty-Something if the statement:

“There is no Absolute Truth.”

is a true statement.

He said, “Sometimes.”

I had never heard such an illogical statement from someone.

(“There is no Absolute Truth” is an Absolute Truth statement itself and therefore self-contradictory, it is never true; but “those whose Mind’s Left” believe it is true).

This is what we are dealing with. Not all Twenty-Somethings are “those whose Mind’s Left.” Not all “those whose Mind’s Left” are Twenty-Somethings. But what we are dealing with are people who do not think logically, rationally or reasonably. They have been taught in college that truth doesn’t exist, they have believed this lie as true (ironic) and their actions have followed this belief.

What can we do?

Pray. To Jesus. And humbly ask Him to intervene. He is on the side of Truth, and Grace, and people. All people. Including “those whose Mind’s Left.” Including you.

By responding to this you are affirming “Freedom of Speech” is a right for yourself and all others.

Is Jesus Pro-Choice?

How can we know? . . . Jesus never said anything about abortion, right?

Or did he?

Jesus wrote the Bible, the Old and New Testament. He IS the Bible; the Word that became flesh. And Jesus left some statements about abortion in the Old Testament, through the prophet Jeremiah.

4 Now the word of the LORD came to me saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:4–5 (NASB95)

So, Jesus knew Jeremiah BEFORE Jesus formed him in his mother’s womb and had a plan for his life. And, from the perspective of the God who made him, Jeremiah was a PERSON after he was born, before he was born, when fertilized, and before he was fertilized.

The Pro-choice thought is that they are not for abortion, they just want it an option between a woman and her doctor. But Jesus says there are three people involved and he loves all three.

Jesus says ending a life after fertilization is killing a PERSON and the life God planned for them.

There are Crisis Pregnancy Centers that do not judge you and exist solely to love you and your baby and give you practical help and options so you can choose the best way. There are people “waiting in a line over a mile long” to adopt babies and they will love your baby and care for them just like Jesus and you want them to be loved and cared for.

Do you love Jesus and your baby enough to allow his/your child to live out God’s plan for their life?

The relationship between “Absolute Truth” and “Apologetics”

Where do you start?

In a culture that declares and asks me to sign a statement that asserts “There is no such thing as Absolute Truth,” and does not even recognize that as an “Absolute Truth Statement,” I choose to start my interactions with some people with this same discovery. After all, if we can’t even agree that something CAN be true for me AND you, what is point and the reference of further discussion?

So, if we can agree that, “There is no such thing as Absolute Truth,” is self-contradictory and therefore false, we shed the blinders of willful ignorance and we are left with, “There is Absolute Truth.” If there is “Absolute Truth” how do we find it and recognize it?

Questions.

“Absolute Truth” has left its fingerprints throughout Creation, Science and History. It is inextricably woven into the fabric of the Universe and does not need to be proposed but rather discovered. By honestly questioning our assumptions and following where the answers lead, we will naturally be drawn to recognize some things are “True, Absolutely.” And one “Truth” will point to another and the discovery will have begun.

100% JESUS

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. Daniel 7:14,27
