[T]hat they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
John 17:21 (NASB95)
This verse teaches that we are one with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is why Jesus said if we are faithless, He remains faithful, because He cannot deny Himself. This security has been missing since the Fall. Counter-intuitively, its end result is not license (unbridled sin) but rather love and the desire to love (obey). And our desire to love is not just toward God but also toward the world and it is through Jesus’ love through us the world will know that the Father has sent the Son.
